My name is Chelsea Lowe and I am currently working on my undergraduate degree in Digital Media. I am quiet and reserved - and a bit odd by society's standards - but I put my soul into my work and am determined to make it in this cutthroat world of design. When I'm not creating, then I am either playing fetch with my cat (Ozzy) or I am reading or I am fangirling over Johnny Depp and Tom Hiddleston. ;) I have an intense love for wildlife, and a large portion of my personal work is centered on big cats.
After a number of months and little-to-no-time for blogging thanks to school, I finally managed to create a new layout for Victoresque. Christmas break started for me a few weeks ago, and I have been busy with catching up on reading and personal art projects. The spring semester starts for me on January 17, so I still have quite a bit of time left, thankfully.
It’s 2013. I am not one for making New Year’s Resolutions because I know I won’t keep half of them. XD My goals for 2013 are simply to survive this next set of classes, create more art, experiment with more media and styles, read more books, create more graphic design work, and actually make an attempt to make a living off of my art. The same goals that I have every year.
As far as blogging goes, I’m not for sure how often I will be writing. I definitely will be posting my art and sketches here more regularly now that I am finally getting around to fixing up the site. It’ll probably act more as an art/design blog more than anything with the occasional book review and the occasional post about big cat conservation.
Speaking of big cats, I used my recent digital lion painting for the new layout header. :) It’s actually from a poster that I created last month to promote the wild cat organization Panthera. Once I finish reading 11/22/63 by Stephen King (which is really good so far, by the way), then I am going to finish up and upload the tiger painting that I used. These photorealistic big cat digital paintings are part of a new series that I’ll be working on titled Felidae.
And since I (desperately) need to increase my graphic design portfolio this year, I’ve just decided to create a series of vector-based posters involving wild cats. I haven’t established a “style” or “look” for them yet, but it’s something I’ll have to research and sketch out for ideas. I’m also planning out a series of minimalistic movie posters for some of my favourite books.
I’m still not set up to sell prints yet. I know it has been months and I should have them selling right now, but agh. The combination of school and creating art is taking so much time. I’m looking into selling some of my work through the Prints system at deviantART or over at society6 so I won’t have to worry about printing and shipping the prints myself. The prints I have with me that I made a while back, I’ll sell personally at this site. I just have to set it up, which I will do before the spring semester starts. I’ll start going through and photographing them this week and begin creating all the pages needed to sell them.
When I get the print issue settled, I’ll update the “Art” section of this site. There is quite a bit of work that I’ve done that I haven’t uploaded here, so that’s something to look forward to. :)

The new layout is gorgeous, deary! Every time, you never cease to impress me. Your art skills have improved so much – and the lion as the header is just perfect. I love it, and happy 2013!
I have similar, simple goals for 2013. I never do the usual “eat healthier, lose weight, blah blah” because those never happen, haha. I just want to blog more, get good grades, and try to read 52 books this year. I love reading, so I thought I’d challenge myself and still have fun while I’m at it. :) Best of luck finishing all of your projects before classes start again! The only thing I have to make myself do before then is pack and order my textbooks, haha. (So lazy.)

Alright, I’m replying to your epic that you left on my comments section. XD
Ahhh, being healthy is so much work, bahah. It wouldn’t be a problem but I just love food, especially sugar and chocolate. You can’t take that away from me. :( But I uhm, kinda sorta working on it not really, ha.
I love to read so much, but I also find it really hard to find the time. I read a friend’s blog (she managed to read 100 books last year – CRAZY) and she read at least an hour before bed every night, so I’m going to try that approach. I think if I read every day, I can do the 52 books. And I totally know what you mean about having un-read books. Last year I counted and had 27…I know I have more now and I don’t want to count, baha. Hopefully I can reduce that a bit this year.
Oh wow, 300 students is a lot for a class! I think my biggest class was 150 (my psych class). I really enjoyed all of my professors except for my French one, which just stunk. I have heard of ratemyprofessor.com but I didn’t hear about it until after classes started last semester. But I made sure to use it for this semester – and so far it’s great because two of my professors have free text online so I don’t have to buy a textbook, which is just FANTASTIC, cause ya know, I’m poor haha.
Ooh, the Beatles paper definitely sounds interest! :) I thought I was going to hate writing the paper, but I ended up really liking it. I’ve had numerous people want to read it (which is kind of weird to me haha) but it was definitely interesting to research.
Regarding Into Depp, I totally understand. Running it takes a lot of time and effort, which is hard when you’re in college. I respect whatever you decide, and am here to help if you ever are in need of it! :) And yes, 2012 was a bit depressing with Johnny and the media. :/
